Chatter around Twin Oaks Country Club

Chatter around Twin Oaks Country Club during the first day of the Class 4 state golf tournament was all about the relatively high scores and the reasons for them. Wind, pin locations and fast greens were among the culprits.

But Derek Peterson of Carthage was all smiles.Paintings for sale replicasderelojesale buy paintings original painting art.
"I feel great," he said Monday after shooting a first-round 2-over 74, which tied him for second place. "I hit the ball well and I was confident in what I was doing."
Like nearly everyone else at the tournament, Peterson agreed the pin locations and slick greens made play difficult, but he didn't let it get to him.

"I took my time," he said. "I was very deliberate in everything I was doing."
The four Springfield golfers in the tournament finished around the middle of the pack, led by Glendale's RayVaun Christenson, who shot an 80 for a tie for 18th.

Christenson shot 37 on the front nine and 43 on the back nine.
"He had a couple bad breaks and lost some momentum," Glendale coach Sean Williamson said.Save with popular jewelry & redbullhatsstore Voucher Codes,

Kickapoo was led by Taylor Dade's 83. The pressure of the state tournament was possibly offset by Dade's opportunity to play on his home course.

He said he should have played better, but he hit the ball well and was looking forward to the second round today.
"You always want to play well on the first day, but you don't have to," he said.

Teammate Harrison Palmer shot an 87.
Like most of those in the field, the Springfield contingent will have to make a move without the support of a full team.
"It's kind of different because you don't have teammates to talk to," Dade said of qualifying as an individual. "When you're down, they can pick you up."
