“Madeira and Derk were right,” said Wilkes University political science professor Tom Baldino. “They were lower profile targets.” They were also right that Carney’s campaign has set its sights squarely on Marino’s controversial past, almost from the get-go.
The day in January that Marino announced he was running, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee slapped a new moniker on him: “Casino Marino.” Neither the DCCC nor Carney came up with nicknames for Derk or Madeira.
