Wearing their new skirts and carrying colorful pocketbooks, a group of 4-H girls strutted their stuff on the catwalk Saturday morning.
The girls showed off their completed sewing projects in a runway revue after a 4-H sewing slumber party at the Buffalo County Extension Office.
The audience was filled with parents and siblings, and they applauded and shot photographs as each girl walked the runway.

“We made this recycled billfold thing, and then we made a skirt, a recycled skirt. We took extra pants and fabric and then made it into a skirt,” said Mikayla Chop, 10,FASCINANTES Burberry Replicas 100% suizos. of Ravenna.
Chop said she already knew how to sew before the slumber party because her grandma taught her. She said while she didn’t learn many new skills, she had fun making the skirt.

“I’m working on finishing my master’s degree, so the skirts they made is a pattern I’m designing for my degree,” Burda said. “This was kind of also a test for me to see if it works, to see if girls this age can handle things like that.
“I didn’t have an actual paper cutout pattern for them to use, so I just had to basically teach them how to do it and walk them through it step by step. I think the visual is really important in that process, so I’m taking notes on that that I need more visuals,” Burda said.
“They all came out with something finished and everybody got it done. We had 15 girls, which was three over our limit, so it was kind of amazing.”
Burda showed the girls a DVD Friday night of a fashion show she was part of as a full-time graduate student at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
“So they got to see what an actual runway show looks like and what the potential is for doing stuff like this and continuing on with it at UNL. That was supposed to be the inspiration for this morning.
