New cookbooks debut in time for Christmas


Since there are gourmet cooks — both men and women — in every household, I have selected some of my favorite new cookbooks.

The author, Amanda Hesser, is the popular food columnist for the New York Times. She brings her signature voice and expertise to this compendium of influential and delicious recipes from the many chefs, home cooks and food writers. What a great gift this will be for beginning or seasoned cooks on your list.

“Second Helpings.” Gabriel. Thomas Nelson. $24.99

Paula Deen is endorsing the cookbook, “Second Helpings,” by her cousin, Johnnie Gabriel. Deen has written the foreword introducing Gabriel’s attractive new book and explaining the family connection and their love of cooking. Of course, the book is brimming with Southern recipes and includes 150 recipes and 50 color photos straight from the heart of the South. Since Paula says it is “full of mouth-watering goodies,” we know it is to be true. I recommend it.

One of the hottest best-sellers I am told through the surveys, is “Bartending...” But as an active supporter of MADD,Unbelieveable cctv cameras to complete your hidden camera set ups. I refuse to tout a book about booze and in any way encourage some young person to drink.Work of a professional cctv ccd camera in conjunction with a modern lens. And that’s my take on that!

One of my favorite cookbooks is “Southern Living 1001 Ways to Cook Southern.”
Several years ago, it was our privilege to visit the Southern Living kitchens in Alabama, and I continue to be impressed with the cleanliness and orderliness of their kitchens and the quality of their cookbooks.
