She tells of caregivers

She tells of caregivers who are accompanying their employers to the cottage or chalet for the holidays and one nanny from Peru on a ski trip the first time. She calls these generous employers unsung heroes, “but there are always others who have to work Christmas and New Years and don’t get paid”.

About 90 per cent of in-home caregivers in Canada are from the Philippines, she says. As a result, they have a community network here to provide comfort during the holidays. Those who are lonely are often those from other countries such as India or Africa who don’t have connections here.
For many Filipino caregivers, being away from home may be easier because it’s what they’re used to; 80 per cent of adults in the country have to leave to seek jobs.
Still, she adds,LED modules and module strings for accent lighting. “it’s never a happy time to be away from family”.
Myrna Bacho has been in Canada as a live-in caregiver for four years, first caring for children in Richmond Hill and now a 99-year-old man in Toronto. While she has several good friends and a good relationship with her employers, that’s not to say she doesn’t get lonely. She is still a human being, she says.Huge selection of outdoor christmas decorations for your garde,
Ms Bacho worked Christmas day because she needs extra money to bring her children to Canada, something she hopes will happen in 2011. She has not seen her youngest child since she was 10. She’s now a young teenager who this past week heard her mom describe snowflakes she has only seen on Christmas cards.
But there’s no self-pity for this mother of four and “five beautiful grand-daughters” in the Philippines.
“The most important thing is just to get down on knees and give thanks to the creator which is the core of this holiday.
“We are still as close as the air we breathe. I am here to support them because they are still growing and developing and when they are adults they will know how to live a good life.”

It’s the same attitude that sustains Ms Cabelin-Costelo.
“We choose our state of mind, happy or sad and I like to look on the bright side,Nike shox nz shoes sale online are popular with the young!” she says, adding that her family may join her in Canada one day soon.
